Zoned Chilled Water Cooling or Mini Split Air Conditioning
The common misconception is that if you have hot water heating, you can’t have air conditioning. Abacus offers many alternatives that are very high efficiency. By having a small fan coil in each space that needs cooling, we can create diversity or load shifting with how and when different zones call.
There are quite a few advantages to using zoned fan coils:
- Large duct trunk-line soffits are not necessary
- No multi-level stratification from air handler in lower level
- Only use cooling energy where desired in home
- Still have air quality filtration at each zone
- Potential for humidification distribution with radiant heating
The zoned fan coils and mini split units come in a number of different styles to suit your application. The Multiaqua fan coils are available in hi-wall exposed, universal mount, air handling units and ceiling concealed units. We use ceiling concealed units most commonly and will install them in small soffits, dropped ceiling spaces, in the attic and in inverted soffits in the attic. No matter the application or style, we customize the layout and design with the owner, architect and builder.
